Srinagar,15-Feb; Body of teenage girl who had jumped into the river Jhelum in Rajbagh area of Srinagar on Sunday evening, was retrieved after 3 days on Wednesday. As per reports, a 17-year-old girl jumped from the footbridge connecting Sonwar with Gadhanzpora Rajbagh area of Srinagar into river Jhelum on Sunday evening.Soon after the incident, a joint team of river police and the Indian navy launched a search operation to rescue the girl, but could not locate her for days. “The girl’s body was retrieved today afternoon in the Rajbagh area near the footbridge, a few miles downstream from the spot of drowning,” police said. Meanwhile, after medico-legal formalities the body was handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
