Srinagar, 10-Jan: Amid rising Covid-19 cases across the country, Jammu and Kashmir government began administering the “precaution dose” or the booster shot of Covid-19 vaccine in its high-risk population — frontline workers and senior citizens with comorbidities — on Monday.While talking to media persons after inaugurating booster vaccination drive at PHC Jawahar Nagar, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather said that on the directions of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, vaccination drive for all health care workers, front line workers and people of age above 60 with co-morbidities has been started.He said that for the safety of general public, we need to keep health workers in safety first. Adding that there is no shortage of vaccination and all necessary arrangements have been made for walk-in and registered eligible population and urged the health care workers to protect themselves first.He said that credit must be to given media as well for helping in clearing myths and rumours and now whole population even children were seen enthusiastic in taking the vaccination.He appealed to the general public to follow Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB) in letter and spirit to prevent the transmission of omicron infection in their communities and families and help the administration to keep the omicron at bay.Health Ministry earlier said that An estimated 1.05 crore healthcare and 1.9 crore frontline workers, and 2.75 crore comorbid people in the 60 plus age group across country would be administered the precaution dose according to schedule.(CNS)
