Kulgam ,07-Mar: Kulgam Police while continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society and the back to back actions against the drug peddlers are being taken out in the district with the aim of bringing drug peddling to the zero level .In a statement issued, police spokesman said that, a police party of police post Mirbazar headed by IC PP Mirbazar established a checkpoint at Nippora crossing and during checking one vehicle bearing registration number PB02-DZ- 9045 was intercepted. After thorough checking, officers present were able to recover 06KG of Poppy Straw like contraband substance from in it. The driver of the vehicle whose identity was ascertained as Lovepreet Singh R/O Gurdaspur, Punjab was arrested on spot and the vehicle used in commission of crime was seized.Similarly in another case the police party from P/S Behibagh acting swiftly upon specific information of drug peddling in the area had established multiple checkpoints. During checking at Batpora crossing the police party led by SHO P/S Behibagh noticed one suspicious person identified as Fayaz Ahmad Lone R/O Melhora, Shopian who was intercepted.
