Srinagar,02-May; A hand grenade was recovered from the luggage bag of a sepoy associated with the Indian Army at Srinagar airport on Monday. The explosive item was recovered during baggage screening.The solider possessing the grenade was identified as Balaji Sampath of the 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), a resident of Tamil Nadu. The Armyman was deployed in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.Sources said that at around 9:30 am, the airlines screener during baggage screening at drop gate recovered 1 live hand Grenade (312M/KF90), which was concealed in the check-in baggage of Army Sepoy Balaji Sampath (42 RR, E Coy., Card No. F999848, Army No. 14948213X). As per the information available, Balaji Sampath was traveling from Srinagar to Chennai via Delhi by Indigo flight 6E-5031/2061. The soldier was immediately detained for questioning later handed over to police post Humhama for further investigation.(CNS)
