JAMMU, FEBRUARY 10: A massive three month long Information, Education and Communication campaign against drug addiction and abuse was launched across the district today.Under the overall leadership of District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya, the campaign commenced with 40 panchayat-level events, marking the first phase of an extensive outreach plan that will continue over the next three months, covering every panchayat in the district.A variety of activities, including nukkad natak, video testimonies, short films and rallies, are being incorporated to enhance audio-visual engagement with the masses.The initiative is a collaborative effort involving multiple departments, including Health, Education, Social Welfare and Police, along with other stakeholders, ensuring a holistic approach to awareness and prevention. Additional District Magistrate Ansuya Jamwal, designated as the Nodal Officer, coordinated today’s events and will continue overseeing their execution in the upcoming phases.A key highlight of the campaign was the motivational lectures by former addicts, who would be sharing their personal struggles and experiences, warning the public about the devastating impact of drug abuse on both personal and social lives.With a total of 305 events planned, awareness drives will be held weekly at pre-decided venues, targeting the general public.
