JAMMU: Amit Sharma, Administrator, GMCH & Associated Hospitals Jammu today made a surprise visit to Government SMGS Hospital today especially during ongoing the challenging Corona Pandemic conditions during which he took a round of the Hospital Complex and checked the cleanliness in different wards, corridors and theatres alongwith strict adherence to prescribed protocols during these days, apart from sharing his vision towards improvement of infrastructure in this oldest heritage Hospital Complex of Jammu division. During the visit, Administrator Amit Sharma was accompanied by Dr Rakesh Sharma, Deputy Medical Superintendent of the Hospital and other staff members.
Apart from conducting routine inspection tour of the SMGS Hospital Complex, Administrator AHJ, Amit Sharma was very particular regarding safeguarding the health and hygiene here alongwith provisioning of proper Multi-Level Parking Facility inside this huge complex of the Hospital which can cater to long-time looming crisis of Parking and Vehicle Management inside SMGS Complex. He directed the Hospital Administration to get a DPR made in this behalf and submit the same so that proper multi-level parking facility on modern lines can come-up in SMGS Complex at the earliest on PPP Mode. While taking a round of existing parking areas, Amit Sharma pointed out that it will not only help inside visitors but even the public in nearby areas who struggle to park their vehicles in the vicinity which is happening here in a haphazard manner as on date.
During the visit to various wards, particularly Dr Parmod Kalsotra, Head of ENT Department alongwith his team apprised and requested Administrator Amit Sharma that air-conditioning is required at the earliest inside ENT Theatre and OPD areas wherein public and even Doctors including Para-Medical Staff are suffering badly due to prevalent Humid conditions. Administrator directed Hospital Authorities to complete the repair works inside ENT Wards at the earliest which are pending since long. He also directed for immediate removal of all Dead Stock item heaps outside ENT Wards on 1st Floor so that proper hygienic conditions prevail in this all-important Hospital of Jammu.
Administrator AHJ Amit Sharma also visited few important areas such as Paediatrics Wards wherein senior faculty member Dr Ashu Jamwal requested for provisioning more human resources for physically deficient newly born neo-natal kids so that they could be given due care in Optical, Dental, Physiotherapy and related areas for ensuring their growth and proper treatment. He noted all these genuine issues and assured towards finishing the requisite recruitment process at the earliest.
Before culminating the visit, Amit Sharma also met Matron of SMGS Hospital alongwith her team and advised them to show special zeal and zest in handling nursing work here while taking all precautions and guiding patients for same during ongoing Corona times. He also directed Deputy MS that the rooms of both Principal GMC as well as Administrator AHJ should always be kept in fully-functional state, as they can come and conduct work here as well, in the coming times, purely in the interest of patient care and for bringing improvement in the infrastructure of SMGS Hospital which is the need of the hour.
