Anti-drug campaign gains momentum in Jammu division

Nasha Mukt J&K AbhiyanAwareness events, mass pledge ceremonies organised to aware stakeholders JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 05: Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan has turned into a mass movement across Jammu Division districts amid the intensive anti- drug campaign launched by the administration through different mediums. Series of awareness events and mass pledge ceremonies are being organised by the stakeholder departments at all levels to sensitize the people about the challenges posed by the menace.At Kathua, As part of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, an intensive awareness campaign and mass pledge ceremonies are being held across Kathua district. To spread awareness among the masses, the District Information Centre Kathua has launched a special drive on social media by circulating the awareness messages through infographics and audio video means.Meanwhile, awareness programmes and other activities continued across the district wherein stakeholder Departments and Educational Institutions organised multifarious activities, including interactive sessions, debates to highlight the need to discourage the growing drug abuse in the society. AT RAJOURI,   To spread awareness among the youth about the ill effects of drug abuse, an awareness program was   organised  at Sports Stadium Kheora.The program was organised on the eve of Teachers Day under Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan.The participants were educated about the disastrous effects of drugs and the role of parents in protecting their children from falling into the addiction trap.The youth were advised to take part in constructive activities like sports and choose life not drugs.District Social Welfare Officer, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt while speaking at the event underscored the need for joint efforts to prevent school and college students from using drugs and getting addicted to them.He asked the school heads and teachers to immediately take up the matter with parents in case they notice anything suspicious or if there was a change in the behavior of the student.“Government has taken a slew of measures to fight this menace but the cooperation of society is a must to   curb the menace,” he added.The DSWO highlighted the importance and positive effects of awareness campaigns on youths. He appealed to the school authorities to regularly conduct such campaigns, and ensure that a lecture on substance use would be a regular feature of morning assembly.A pledge to make the district free of drugs was also administered to the participants during the event.AT RAMBAN, District Administration Ramban organized a series of awareness rallies and pledge ceremonies to promote the Anti- Drug Campaign.Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ramban Harbans Lal Sharma, administered pledge to the officers in district administrative complex Ramban.The programmes were also organized by  the  Health, Education, PWD, PMGSY, Social Welfare, ICDS, RDD, REW, Animal, Sheep Husbandry, Transport and various other departments   administered the pledge against Drug abuse in their respective  offices and institutions. .Meanwhile, the Drug and Food Control Organization, Ramban, in collaboration with District Information Centre Ramban conducted an  awareness program for chemists and the general public at main market  Ramban.During the awareness programme, Drug Control Officer, Ramban, Imtiyaz Ahmed administered the pledge to Chemists   and urged them to play their role in curbing the misuse of Narcotic and Psychotropic drugs.On the occasion, posters were pasted on medical shops to alert the general public regarding ill effects of drug addiction.
