DC Kishtwar holds press conference on Covid situation in Kishtwar

Deputy commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma today held a press conference here at the conference Hall DC office Complex Mini secretariat Kishtwar and briefed the media persons about the current Covid scenerio in the district.

At the outset he welcomed the media persons and appreciated their role in providing true information to the masses and disseminating the awareness about the Corona pandemic among the masses.

During the press conference he informed that till date 3488 cases of the COVID19 virus infection have been reported in the district out of which 3064 cases have been recovered.

Whereas during the 2nd wave of the COVID pandemic in the district a major spike in cases have been observed when a total of 753 active cases have been reported since 1st of March 2021,out of which 308 have recovered and 04 patients with co-morbidity have died.

He further informed that at present 21 COVID positive patients are admitted in district hospital and 34 Covid positive patients are under the medical supervision at the Covid care centres.

To effectively deal with the cases upsurge number of COVID 19 mitigation measures have been taken by the district administration so far,he added.

He further informed that in this regard 13 micro containment zones which includes 26 hamlets of the rural areas of the distict Kishtwar have been established to effectively and efficiently contain and mitigate the spreading infection and break the chain of infection.

As for as the medicare facility to deal with the such patients is concerned he informed that 105 high flow oxygen supported beds have been prepared,out of which only 21 are occupied,so people need not to be panic in this context as the district administration is well prepared to deal with any type of exigency.Besides this 550 bed capacity have been established throughout the district at various designated COVID care centres and the district administration is mulling to increase the capacity in future.

He urged the masses to co-operate the district administration in the fight against this pandemic by lending their hand to aware the others in getting the persons above 45 years of age vaccinated.

He reiterated the fact that out of the deaths reported, 93 percent were not vaccinated and 7 percent were those who had taken only 1st dose.
Therefore he appealed to the masses get vaccinated soon.

To ensure that all are tested and vaccinated timely he said that teams have been established to facilitate the health department in this exercise.

He also informed that for the past few days as per the directions of Hon’ble LG triage system have been established besides mopping up door to door drive is ongoing to screen/identify the potential covid patients across the district.
Adding to this he said that a 24Ă—7 covid control room has been established and helpline numbers have have been circulated with all including the patients and necessary instructions are been shared with them and the public for facilitation at the time of need.
