JAMMU, Mar 15: Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court Justice N Kotiswar Singh said today that nobody wants violence but it has been thrust upon us in Jammu and Kashmir by the inimical forces and that he can guess feelings of the people here who have gone through the trauma.
Justice Kotiswar Singh was addressing gathering of Judges, senior journalists, Advocates, Bar Association office bearers, educationists and prominent politicians among others at Press Club of Jammu after presenting annual RK Chhibber Memorial Awards in Journalism.
The awardees include Amogh Rohmetra (The Print), Satnam Singh (Dainik Jagran) and Ashwani Sharma, former Bureau Chief of Indian Express for Himachal Pradesh. All three belonged to Jammu.
Justice Kotiswar Singh presented the awardees with mementoes and Rs 25,000 worth cheque each on behalf of the Trust in the presence of High Court Judges including Justice Vinod Chatterjee Koul, Justice Rahul Bharti, Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal, Advocate General DC Raina, Deputy Solicitor General Vishal Sharma, Bar Association chief Vikram Sharma, Trust chairperson Sushil Chhibber and Maneesh Chhibber, Press Club president Sanjeev Pargal, Dinesh Manhotra, Secretary General and Zorawar Singh Jamwal, vice president, MK Bhardwaj, senior Advocate, Dr Nirmal Singh, former Deputy CM, Devender Rana, Ajay Sadhotra, Naresh Gupta, Dr Sushil Sharma, Cardiologist, former Chief Secretary BR Sharma and former Press Club presidents Ashwani Kumar and Manu Shrivatas among others.
“I have come here from Manipur. But I can understand your feelings… the trauma you have gone through because of inimical forces. Nobody wants violence but it has been thrust upon us,” Justice Kotiswar Singh said.
