The NSS unit of Govt. College of Engineering & Technology (GCET), Jammu on 8th of Oct. organised a massive cleanliness drive in the college campus under #Clean India Campaign, an initiative of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav- Celebration of India’s 75 years of Independence. The drive was initiated under the patronage of worthy principal of the college Dr. Sameru Sharma.While leading the mass movement for cleanliness, she exhorted the staff members and NSS volunteers to fulfil Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a clean and hygienic India. She urged the students and staff of the college that they should neither litter, nor let others litter in and around the campus. She also said that a sense of responsibility should be evoked among the students through this Clean India Movement. During the drive the volunteers cleaned the college premises, administration block, lab blocks, parking and adjoining areas. The cleanliness drive was organized by NSS volunteers under the guidance of Mr. Vishal Vaid and NSS Programme officer Dr. Raman Gupta of the college. He applauded and congratulated all the NSS volunteers for their excellent work and discipline. He also asked them to carry on the #Clean India Campaign throughout the month. Other staff members including Dr. Ajay Abrol, Er. Rajeev Bali, Er. Neeraj Dubey, Prof. Shammi Kumar, Sh. Ranjan kumar and Sh. Balbir Singh were also present. The principal of the college also congratulated the team NSS for their sincere efforts to raise the awareness of cleanliness activities among other students and common people.
