Srinagar, 04-May; ; The Mayor of Srinagar, Junaid Mattu, and former Deputy Mayor of Srinagar, Sheikh Imran, have distanced themselves from the issuing of any parking rates under the Smart City project. The duo informed on Twitter that the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has not been consulted by the concerned officials.“SMC has neither been consulted nor authorized these parking rates, which I believe has an exclusive statutory mandate for public places. A parking policy/by-laws for Srinagar would deal with this. Arbitrary, isolated notification of parking rates is a contradictory exercise,” tweeted Junaid Mattu as per CNS.Sheikh Imran supported this by tweeting, “Why is the Smart City department demeaning the elected body? Let me shout out that everything in Srinagar has to be routed through the elected body as the city belongs to us – SMC. I proposed many projects through SMC in Smart City, which are done, but some officials seem to mislead the Hon’ble @manojsinha_ lead @OfficeOfLGJandK admin, as these officials live in their own fantasy world of deceit & fraudulently take credit for these projects & have portrayed a wrong picture wherein the idea is not theirs but mine. And I will not keep quiet but prove it. I will be doing a ‘walk the talk’ in my city in regards to Smart City projects to prove my point & showcase the blunders of officialdom & show violations done by the elected body”.
