Police arrests 04 drug peddlers in Anantnag; Huge quantity of Contraband substance recovered

June 21: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Anantnag and recovered huge quantity of contraband substance from their possession.

Officers from Police Post Sangam at a checkpoint established on NHW44 near Sangam Chowk intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK03A-3234 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Muzaffar Ah Das son of Ali Mohd Das resident of Waghama Bijbehara and Fayaz Ahmed Bhat son of Mohd Ramzan Bhat resident of Katriteng. During checking, officers were able to recover 57 Kgs of Poppy Straw from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

In another action, a police party from PS Anantnag at a checkpoint established at Khanabal Chowk intercepted a person identified as Ishfaq Majeed Nanda son of Late Abdul Majeed Nanda resident of Nandpora Khanabal. During checking officers were able to recover 20 bottles of Welcyrex from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Similarly, officers from Police Station Mattan during patrolling within the jurisdiction intercepted a person identified as Bilal Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Rasool Wani resident of Khulchor Deenthu. During checking officers recovered 350 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant section of law stands registered in respective police stations and investigation have been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
