Police busts illegal trade of LPG gas in Awantipora

September 29: Acting on specific information about illegal trade of LPG gas in Litrabal area of Pampore, a Police party from PS Pampore raided the said area and seized 6 gas tankers bearing registration numbers HR55AB-3696,HR55U-5698,PBO3A-3399,RJ14GF-9500,HR46D-3222 and NLO1K-7135 red handed while filling the cylinders with the gas from the tankers.

All the vehicles have been seized and the drivers of the vehicles have also been arrested. They have been identified as Vijay Singh resident of Kathua, Nasir Ahmad, Mohd Ramzan Bhat, Mohd Rafiq Sheikh, Chamail Sings and Prem Singh all residents of District Rajouri.

Notably, all these tankers were coming from outside the valley and were supposed to unload the gas filled tankers at Gas Bottling Plant Pampore, but instead they were illegally selling some quantity of it to the private gas dealers in the area.

Moreover, a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK02AG-0388 laden with 22 cooking gas cylinders which were being refilled by these gas tankers has also been seized and the driver identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Dar resident of Lethpora was also arrested.

The arrested persons have been shifted to Police Station Pampore where they remain in custody.

A case FIR No. 80/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pampore and investigation has been initiated.
