Shortage Hits Pulwama Ration Depot’s

Pulwama,21-Nov; As rice is considered to be a staple food in Kashmir, consumers across Pulwama district complained of shortage in ration depots, with weaker sections finding it difficult to procure essentials like rice, atta and sugar.A group of aggrieved ration card holders from Pulwama district told CNS that about the lack of food grains, compelling them to fetch essentials from private shops.“We have no rice to eat and can’t even afford to purchase it from open market at exorbitant rates,” said Ghulam Qadir of Tral.Inhabitants of various area of district have same complaint that the ration depots were without supplies, forcing the people to face hardships.“We are suffering immense hardships due to shortage of essentials for past month. The authorities have failed to supply the ration,” said Abbas Ahmad, a local at Pulwama.They added that district has more than 350 depots among which only 50 depots have received supply in past days. They demanded that government should take immediate steps to keep ration available at the depots.
