Srinagar Police arrests drug peddler, psychotropic substance recovered

October 10: Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Srinagar have arrested a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substances from his possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at SMHS Hospital premises near OPD after receiving information about drug peddling, intercepted one vehicle Grand I-10 bearing registration number JK01AL-0017 with one person on board. He has been identified as Mohammad Azhar Bhat resident of Nundreshi Colony A Bemina Srinagar. During checking, officers were able to recover Spaspromoxan 417 capsules, Blurex Codeine phosphate 25 bottles and Omerex 12 bottles from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Karan Nagar where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 60/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Karan Nagar and investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
