Kulgam, O4-Jan; Police on Tuesday claimed to have killed two local militants affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF) outfit at Okay area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
The identity of the slain militants are 1Sameer Ahmad Sheikh S/O:- Farooq Ah Sheikh. They were involved in several terror crimes,” IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said in a statement.“The encounter started in the early hours on Tuesday after a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the area. As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.Officials said that the militants were repeatedly asked to surrender, which they turned down and fired upon forces, triggering an encounter.(CNS)
