KATHUA, FEBRUARY 24: Social Welfare Department Kathua, in Collaboration with Artificial Limbs Corporation of India (ALIMCO), today organized a prosthetic aid Distribution camp under Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) scheme here at Day Care Centre district headquarters Kathua.Vice Chairman, DDC Kathua Raghunandan Singh presided over the proceedings of the camp.DDC Member Keerian Gandyal, Dr Shaveta, DSWO Kathua Abdul Rahim, TSWO Kathua Vishav Bandhu Sharma, Field Officer ElderLine Shaish Pal Singh, Dr Amit and Dr. Avneesh from ALIMCO were also present in the camp.During the camp, identified beneficiaries of Kathua, Keerian Gandyal and Nagri blocks were given prosthetic aid material, artificial limbs, smartphones for blind and other appliances including Wheelchairs, Tricycles, Hearing aids, clippers; walking sticks etc.Addressing the gathering, the Vice Chairman said efforts are being made to facilitate specially abled persons by promoting their physical, social, psychological rehabilitation. He said the enhancement of the monthly pension to Divyang Jan is under consideration by the government.DDC Member Keerian Gandyal said the prosthetic aids given to Divyang Jan will help in easing out their lives.Earlier awareness on the registration process for issuance of Age Certificate, Elder line and other welfare schemes run by the Social Welfare Department was also imparted among the participants by the representatives of Social Welfare Department and ALIMCO.Pertinently, the Social Welfare Department, Kathua and ALIMCO is holding camps on 25th February 2023 at PWD Guest House, Basohli for beneficiaries of Basohli, Dhar-Mahanpur, Mahanpur and Sheetal Nagar blocks. Likewise, a distribution camp will also be held at Tehsil Social Welfare Office, Bani on 26th February 2023 for beneficiaries of Bani and Duggan blocks.
