Kulgam villagers demand separate power feeders

Kulgam,CNS,24-Dec; At least 30 villages that rely on TN Pora power feeder in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district have sought another one to overcome the power crisis they are confronted with.The locals said that they have been repeatedly demanding up gradation of transformer and accused the concerned authorities of not paying heed to their repeated pleas even as the population has increased over the years, they continue to receive power from a single feeder.The villagers said at times the village plunges into darkness for more than 24 hours due to which studies of children has got severely affected.“As a result of overload we have to face frequent power outages even during the scheduled hours,” the residents said.Mohd Ashraf, a local resident while speaking to CNS said that due to the increase of household’s electricity connections the demand for electricity has also increased in the areas.The affected villages include Bogund, Srundoo, Supar, TN Pora, Danow, Wanipora, Makinpora, Dadipora, Kharpora, Kulpora, and Shurat,Devsar Sopat Tanpora, DHpora Nandimarg Dandwad, Aharbal-KBpora and kund valtengo .On being contacted by CNS, AEE PDD, Javed Ahmed said that they have set up separate electricity feeders in several villages, but HT lines pass through the land of a woman and she is not allowing it to proceed further due to which it remains unconnected. “We have conveyed this to the administration. We are trying to resolve this issue as soon as possible and apologize for the inconvenience residents area facing”, he said.
