BANDIPORA, NOVEMBER 13: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Gurez organized an awareness camp on “Out Scaling of Natural Farming” at Koragbal, block Bagtore.More than 70 tribal farmers and farm women participated in the event. The participants were sensitised about the importance of Natural farming in present day Agriculture.Farmers were also awared about various techniques involved in out scaling of Natural farming practices which includes insect/pest and disease control indigenously by adopting various techniques and by using the extracts of some selected medicinal plants like Artemisia etc., use of indigenous seed and nutrient management through on farm inputs available with the farmers. Chairman BDC block Bagtore was the chief guest on the occasion. The incharge head of KVK, Dr. Bilal Ahmad Bhat deliberated upon the components of natural farming, importance of control of diseases and insect pests of various crops through natural means and the scope of natural products in present day Agriculture. Dr Mudasir Magray, Scientist, Vegetable Sciences shared his experience about the importance of traditional knowledge in identifying various insect pests and vegetable crop diseases and local seeds in natural farming. During the first phase of the Project, 10 villages have been identified in the Gurez valley which includes 06 villages from block Baghtore where the demonstrations on “Natural farming” will be given at farmers’ fields to popularize the natural farming techniques amongst the farming community of Gurez valley.
