Leh Sept 07: Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC Leh Gyal P Wangyal has flagged off an awareness rally as part of the month-long Rashtriya Poshan Maah, under the Poshan Abhiyaan flagship programme today at Council secretariat.
Executive Councilor Minority, Mumtaz Hussain, District Program Officer, Tsering Paldan, CDPO Zarina Bano and other officials of the ICDS department were present.
On the occasion CEC said that this programme is to address the issue of malnutrition and improve the nutritional outcomes for children, adolescents, pregnant women and lactating mothers through a targeted approach and convergence of various nutrition related schemes under various line departments.
CEC further said that strengthening of the immune system became vital during the Covid-19 crises. Later CEC requested all line departments to actively participate and make this into a mass movement in order to make the country free from malnutrition.
Distt. Program Officer Tsering Paldan gave details about the various activities that are being carried out as part of the Rashtriya Poshan Maah. He also said that the whole of September 2020 will be dedicated to promotion of nutrition and health considering the importance of nutrition and health for growth and development of the children. He also said that most of the activities will be conducted online in coming days due to the current Covid situation in the district.
Earlier CDPO Zarina Bano, welcomed all the guests and people present on the occasion and gave details about the ongoing month long program chalked out as part of the Poshan Abhiyan.
