Kulgam , July 9: The roads in Pooniwa-Zazri Pora and Kahrote villages of South Kulgam district are in shambles and the locals are aghast over the cold response by the concerned authorities who, they alleged, have been turning a blind eye to the plight of the people.
Link Roads of Kulgam Villages in Dilapidated Condition, Locals Aghast
Claiming that the road had not been repaired, and no macadimization has been done since past 10 years, the locals blamed that the authorities weren’t concerned for the inconvenience caused to the commuters due to dilapidated condition of roads.Locals claimed that while all roads in district Kulgam were macadamized, the brief stretch of link roads in these have been forgotten altogether by the concerned department and despite bringing the issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times there has been no response.“It has been almost 10 years since the road was macadamized last time and the condition of the road is so bad that drivers refuse to ply on it,” , Mohd Yaqoob Naik, a local resident lamented.Similarly roads in four constituencies of Kulgam namely Devsar, HS-Bugh, Noorabad and Kulgam are in dilapidated condition.Commuters are facing a lot of difficulties particularly pregnant ladies & patients; it is very hectic to carry them to hospitals through the same road. Those villages where the roads are in dilapidated condition are Akhal-Lammar, Brenal-Valtengoo, Rangdab-Safapora, Akhel-Gujranwala, Hadlam-Lankar Pombai and Gregam Babapora.Meanwhile people of the area are requesting district administration to macadamise the roads on priority basis so that commuters may have a sigh of relief.
