Nagaland government totally banned use of flex banners, boards and posters

Nagaland Government has totally banned the use of flex banners, boards and posters by departments, institutions and agencies during functions or programmes in government offices with immediate effect.

In a notification issued by Urban Development Department, Nagaland in pursuance of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change stated that Flex banners/ boards/ posters are made up of Poly-Vinyl-Chlorides (PVC), a plastic polymer, which is a non-biodegradable material. If it is burned, it releases harmful toxins and gets bio-accumulated in the food chain of the ecosystem causing serious hazards to human health and the environment.

The notification further stated that use of eco-friendly materials such as cloth banners, lightweight textile fabrics, wrinkle resistant wrap knit and particle boards may be encouraged to combat plastic pollution in the State.
