Srinagar,21-Oct,: National Police Day, popularly known as Police Commemoration Day was observed across Kashmir, wherein the martyrs were remembered for their sacrifice for the nation.In Srinagar, the police commemoration day function was held at Armed Police Complex Zewan wherein Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tributes to police force for doing commendable job in establishing peace in the UT since past three decades. LG added that the police and security forces will avenge every drop of tears shed by the families of martyrs.Later, ADGP Javid Geelani while paying tributes to police martyrs, said that this year so far, this year, 264 police and Central Forces personnel were martyred in line of duty that includes 37 J&K Police men.
In Pulwama, SP Pulwama Gh. Jeelani Wani-JKPS, paid a floral tribute to all martyrs of the police and two minutes silence was observed. SSP Pulwama took salute at Commemoration Parade. DC Pulwama Baseer-ul-Haq Khan Choudary, ASP Pulwama Tanveer Ahmad-JKPS, CO OF CRPF 182/183, and other senior police officers also attended the function.On the occasion SSP Pulwama said,”we salute the courage, valor and sacrifices of our brave martyrs who laid their lives for unity and integrity of the Nation. The function was followed by laying of wreaths and showering of flowers by the officers, jawans, and the family members of Martyr’s.In Kulgam district, SSP Kulgam Dr.G.V. Sundeep Chakravarty-IPS along with Addl. SP NHW, DySP HQRS Kulgam, DySP DAR Kulgam, other officers/officials of Kulgam police, families of Martyrs paid their homage by placing floral wreaths at the Martyrs Monument in DPL Kulgam.Speaking on the occasion, SSP Kulgam after mentioning all the names of Martyred Police personnel applauded their memorable role. He further said that today we salute our Martyrs for their determination, courage and spirit of sacrifice. He further said that “we salute all our selfless and courageous colleagues who laid down their lives in the line of duty”.During interaction with NOKs of Martyrs, SSP Kulgam heard their grievances, consoled and assured them that District Administration and J&K Police stands by the family and will extend all possible help and support to the families as and when required. Later SSP Kulgam along with officers distributed gifts as a token of love to the families of Martyrs..In North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, function was held at District Police Lines Baramulla where contingents of District Police, 53 Bn CRPF, 2nd Bn SSB and IRP 13th Bn and Sammaan Toli performed parade led by Qazi Naveed Showkat-JKPS DySP (Prob.)SSP Baramulla took the salute of the Police Commemoration Day Parade.On the occasion SSP Baramulla read out the names of all the martyrs of the Nation and said, “The whole country is observing the Police Commemoration Day, we salute the courage, valour and sacrifices of our brave martyrs who laid their lives for unity and integrity of the Nation and protecting the life and property of the people. He also added that J&K Police Deptt. is organizing various cleanliness, cultural, sports events across valley with the message on unity written by the scared blood of our brave warriors”.During interaction with NOKs of Martyrs, SSP Kulgam heard their grievances, consoled and assured them that District Administration and J&K Police stands by the family and will extend all possible help and support to the families as and when required. Principal District and Sessions Judge Bandipora, CJM Bandipora ,ADC Bandipora,CPO Bandipora,CO-14 RR , CO 26 RR ,CO 3rd BN CRPF ,CO 14 BN BSF Hqr Madder,Addl.SP Bandipora Ashiq Hussain Tak-JKPS, Dysp HQRS Bandipora Mohmad Shafat-JKPS ,DYSP DAR Bandipora Ishfaq Alam and other senior officers of police, Army CAPF also attended the function, besides families of police martyrs of district Bandipora, retired police personnel, prominent citizens & distinguished guests were also present.
