National Unity Day

The NSS unit of Govt. College of Engineering & Technology, Jammu organised two days event to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahaotsav- Celebration India’s 75 years of independence and to commemorate the “146th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabbhai Patel”. The event was held under the patronage of worthy principal of the college Dr. Sameru Sharma. She in her message emphasized upon the role of Sardar Vallabbhai Patel (Iron man of India) in the unification of our diverse nation. The day one was started with Rashtriya Ekta Pledge taking ceremony in which all the volunteers along with NSS PO took pledge to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation and also resolved to make their contribution for the internal security of the nation. On day two a poster making competition was organised on the theme “Unity in Diversity”. Large no. of students from different colleges of J&K UT participated in the event and presented their ideas about the theme. The whole event was coordinated by NSS volunteers Sakshi Bhat, Mandeep Singh, Mohd. Sami, Jaanvi Sharma and Rohit Majotra under the guidance of NSS Programme officer Dr. Raman Gupta of the college. He said the main motive of celebrating this day is to maintain nations unity and to aware the people about the contributions of Sardar Vallabbhai Patel in Indian history. The principal of the college congratulated the team NSS for organising such kind of events.
