Srinagar , Aug 10: During his two day visit to J & K, Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi said that not only Jammu and Kashmir but the whole of India is under attack.He said that the only difference is that direct attacks are being carried out on Jammu and Kashmir while in the rest of the country. Indirect attacks are carried out on freedom of speech.He added that people and institutions associated with the media across the country are terrified because the present government threatens and oppresses those who write the truth.Gandhi made the remarks while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the new Congress party office built on Maulana Azad Road Srinagar.”Today, not only Jammu and Kashmir is being attacked. Attacks are taking place all over India. Ghulam Nabi Azad Ji in his speech said that we should raise the issues in the parliament but we are not allowed to speak there. We are oppressed there” Rahul said. “I cannot talk in Parliament about Pegasus, Rafael, Jammu and Kashmir, corruption and unemployment. These people are attacking all the institutions of India. The judiciary, Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha and Assemblies are being attacked. The people in our press can’t write the truth. They are suppressed and threatened. All over India, these people are scared. They are afraid that if they write something, they will lose their job. They are not fulfilling their responsibility” he added.Speaking on the Kashmir connection of the Gandhi family, the people of Gandhi said: “Nowadays my family lives in Delhi, before Delhi my family lived in Allahabad, and before Allahabad my family lived here in Kashmir. My family members must have drunk Jhelum water too. We call your thinking Kashmiriyat and it is also a little bit inside me. Every time I come here I feel like I’m coming home”.At the end he said that communal forces will have to face the defeat. (CNS)
