Udhampur, 02-Sep:- While addressing a series of meetings at Rown Domail, Thill, Dhema, Battal, and interacting with a series of deputations from various pockets of Udhampur whose land has been either acquired or requisitioned by the defence authorities, Ranbir Singh Pathania, BJP Spokesperson, impressed upon the district administration as well as the UT level administration for immediate steps to make over the pending claims of the affected farmers. Land is as good as a mother for a farmer. Whenever these lands were sought to be acquired or requisitioned by the defence authorities, may it be CRPF, BSF or Army, the farmers without any hindrance or any law and order issues, immediately offered their lands. But the lawful right which accrues them by virtue of land acquisition act as well as RAIP Act is still alluding them for decades and decades. They have been driven out of their lands with permanent establishments of defence authorities standing thereupon but the specified rent/compensation is denied to them on one flimsy excuse or the other. Pathania sought the attention of LG as well as the Union Ministry of Defence into the fiasco.He further called for immediate restoration of suspended water lines and broken road channels. Although, in the name of inculcating financial discipline a new set of guidelines have been put in place. But, agencies/departments should focus on immediate restoration of suspended road channels, electricity/water pipelines. Snail’s pace restorations have been causing much hardship and inconvenience to the public at large. This lessens the very aura and impact of the government itself. He further called for restoration of Ramnagar to Basantgarh road, Panjian to Nokain road, Nakki to Omara road, Dessian to SK Ber road, Plassan to Pinger road, and water supplies at Kulwanta, Dehari, Panjian, Sundla, Palnoo, Dargala and Nakki.
