Poonch Media Condemns Misuse of Social Media, Demands Verification of JournalistsPOONCH, JUNE 28:The Poonch Media Fraternity today organized a press conference at the Poonch Press Club to strongly condemn the misuse of social media platforms by certain individuals allegedly posing as journalists. The members expressed serious concern over the creation of fake Facebook pages and social media accounts being used to blackmail senior journalists and spread misinformation.Speaking at the press conference, senior journalists highlighted how these elements are attempting to tarnish the credibility of genuine media professionals and disrupt the real voice of the people of Poonch. They urged the District Administration to take immediate and strict action against those misusing the name of journalism for personal or political gains.The journalists demanded that all media persons operating in Poonch district be verified through proper channels, including the police and other government agencies. They emphasized that the credibility of the press must be preserved and that no individual should be allowed to malign the institution of journalism under the guise of freedom of expression.“It is unfortunate that some individuals are using social media platforms to spread hate and misinformation, presenting themselves as journalists without any credentials or affiliation,” said one of the speakers. “This not only damages our image but also misleads the public.”The press conference witnessed the participation of representatives from various national and state-level media houses, showing collective solidarity against the misuse of media platforms.The Poonch Media Fraternity reiterated its commitment to ethical journalism and called on the authorities to take concrete steps to verify and regulate media practices in the district to safeguard the integrity of the press.
