BANDIPORA, FEBRUARY 20: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmed, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bandipora, Waseem Raja on Monday chaired a meeting to review the preparations for the conduct of winter carnival at tourist resort Athwatto in Bandipora.The meeting was attended by Nodal Officer Coordination Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, PRI Members, social activists and senior officers of security agencies.It was given out that the administration is holding a series of winter carnivals in the district and as part of this series, a winter carnival is being organised in the picturesque village Athwatto on February 22 with an aim to promote the village and explore its tourism potential.Officials said several activities will be held to give a flip to the tourism sector in the area including trekking, hiking, snow rugby, traditional sheen jung, snow cricket, volleyball etc besides holding cultural programmes to enthrall the visitors.ADC directed the officers to work in close coordination to ensure smooth conduct of the programmes. He urged the officers to give due publicity to the programme so that people from other districts also visit the place and explore the place.
