JAMMU: Prof. Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu today chaired a meeting of the Conveners of the Task Force consisting of all core functionaries of the Universities of Jammu that includes Dean Academic Affairs, Dean Research Studies, Director College Development, Registrar, Dean Planning and Development, Faculty Deans, HODs, Professors and officers of the University.
This is in continuation to the meeting of the University Advisory Committee on NEP which was held on August 26, 2020, wherein it was resolved that a role specific task force may be constituted for devising a strategy, roadmap and time bound action plan.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dhar said the vision of NEP 2020 is to bring transformational reforms in school and higher education system of the country towards bringing societal development with integration of traditional values of the country.
Built on the foundational pillars of Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability and Accountability, this policy is aligned to the Agenda for Sustainable Development that aims to transform India into a vibrant knowledge society, exhorted Prof Dhar.
He further said that through this policy there is a need for making education more holistic, flexible, multidisciplinary, suited to 21st century needs and aimed at bringing out the unique capabilities of each student.
While emphasizing on the salient features of the NEP, he called upon all the Convenors to prepare their role specific roadmap with the time bound action plan so that the same can be integrated with the spirit of the objectives of the NEP 2020.
To synchronize the University’s vision with the NEP, the University of Jammu would strive to become one of the leading research intensive multidisplinary University of the Country, said the Vice-Chancellor.
Prof. Dhar also apprised that for initiating an interactive dialogue on the NEP 2020 featuring stakeholders from the education and policy ecosystem the university is planning to organize series of webinars/panel discussions involving national level experts in order to decode and demystify the implementation aspect of National Education Policy 2020.
In this direction, first webinar on NEP-2020 is scheduled to be held on September 10, 2020 for which Prof. Vasudha Kamat, Member, Committee for Draft, National Education Policy-2020 also the former Vice Chancellor, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai has consented to deliver her address for the understanding of larger stakeholders group from University Jammu while also involving all the Universities & Colleges of J&K, Higher Education and School Education Departments of J&K Govt.
It is pertinent to mention that through these initiatives of organizing webinars, panel discussions, brainstorming sessions involving stakeholders approach, the University of Jammu is envisaging to provide futuristic direction in successful implementation of NEP in the UT of J&K
