In a major breakthrough in its war against drugs, District Police Samba has arrested a Punjab based narcotics smuggler and recovered 391.500 kg of Poppy Straw (Bhukki) in the jurisdiction of P/S Bari Brahmana.
Acting on reliable information regarding transportation of huge consignment of narcotics from Kashmir towards Punjab, a Police team of PS Bari Brahmana laid a strong vehicle checking naka at Balole, Bari Brahmana and intercepted one dumper vehicle bearing Regd. No. JK15-0236 which was coming from Valley and moving toward Punjab.
During checking of said vehicle, 20 bags weighing total 391.500 kg of Poppy Straw were recovered which were concealed tactically to avoid being noticed during search.
The accused driver identified as Nirmal Singh S/o Balbir Singh R/O Malpur Hoshiarpur, Punjab has been arrested on spot and the recovered contraband item was seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 177/2020 U/S 8/15/25/29 NDPS Act registered at P/S Bari Brahmana and further investigation started.
