After 2 months of farmers protest in Punjab, rail services are all set to restart in J&K. The J&K Administration has made the covid19 testing of rail passengers mandatory in a meeting addressed by BVR Subrahmanyam. According to reports, no rail passenger would be allowed to enter J&K without a covid19 test report.Mr. Vinod Kumar, Bureau Chief of JK Media talked about it and said “2 trains and 4 trains are to arrive and depart from Jammu Tawi Railway Station respectively with the destinations of Delhi and Varanasi. The first train was supposed to arrive at 11:10 am but is running 45 minutes late. The auto drivers and shopkeepers at Railway station have a little feeling of satisfaction as after 2 long months their businesses have started but have shown resentment as they are not allowed to enter the station and park their autos in the parking.”To this the President of auto union added “First during lockdown everyone sat at home. We became workless. The Government did not help us in any way not even provided us with food. When markets reopened, I started earning 50-100 rupees per day and with great difficulty managed the home expenses. Restarting trains is a good decision by the Administration for everyone.”While on one side the rail services have started again, on the other side people in Kashmir have demanded the Lieutenant Governor to restart the inter-district railway services of Qazigund-Banihal-Baramulla too in order to reduce the increasing traffic in South Kashmir.
