Baramulla,01 Dec, CNS: Acute shortage of patwaris is adversely affecting the working of the Revenue Department in the Pattan tehsil of Baramulla district. Not only work related to revenue, but also of caste verification, income certificate and other works are badly affected.Locals told CNS that they are badly suffering due to Shortage of Patwaris as currently there are more than Five Halqas without Pathwaris in Tehsil Pattan and Singpora Including one OQ.As a result, residents are at the receiving end and bear the brunt of the staff shortage. They have to run from pillar to post to get their work done.They further added that the patwaris are overburdened and have to look after additional villages along with the ones already assigned to them due to which residents’ as well as Pathwaris have to face a lot of inconvenience.“I have been making rounds of the patwari office for the past several days for verification of the income certificate, but have to return empty handed every time as patwari does not sit in his office. I was told that he has been given additional charge of other villages,” said one of the local residents.
