Srinagar youth starts self-publishing venture

Srinagar, Oct 8, : A young man from Kashmir capital Srinagar was started self-publishing venture to encourage budding authors who face a lot of difficulties while publishing their works. Musavir Khurshid, a local from Srinagar city has emerged a hope for the budding authors. Musavir Khurshid said that he had written a collection of papers and wanted to give those papers shape of a novel but the response and attitude of the publishing houses disappointed him. “The author loses all rights when he or she gets a book published from a publishing house. I started the venture of self-publishing and slowly we formed a team and today we are over 40 people who are part of this Self-Publishing venture,” he said. He said they only charge nominal fee while the author loses no rights over the content. “Even marketing rights and the decision to chose the cover of the book exclusively remains with the author,” he said. “If you are a writer researching how to publish a book, you are taking the right step by weighing all of your publishing options.” He said self-publishing has become a household term for writers and authors all around the world, thanks to technology.(KNT)
