Shopian,20-Dec; Three local militants affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit were killed in an encounter with security forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday.As per reports, encounter broke out during the wee hours of Tuesday in Munjh Marg when the joint team of Police, Army’s 1RR and 178 CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.Police identified the slain militants as Lateef Lone of Shopian and Umer Nazir of Anantnag. While calling it a ‘major success’ as the same militants were involved in the killing of Kashmiri Pandit Purana Krishna and Till Bahadur Thapa of Nepal, police said to have recovered a rifle and two pistols from the encounter site.While quoting ADGP Kashmir, the Kashmir Police Zone tweeted, “Among 03 neutralised local militants, 02 identified as Lateef Lone of Shopian, involved in killing of a Kashmiri Pandit Shri Purana Krishna Bhat & Umer Nazir of Anantnag, involved in killing of Till Bahadur Thapa of Nepal. 01 AK 47 rifle & 2 pistols recovered,”
