Srinagar17th August: Various political parties on Tuesday condemned police action on journalists who were beaten by security forces while covering Muharram Procession across the city amid restrictions.Condemning the police action on photojournalists,Mehbooba Mufti tweeted ‘’Media is spending hours debating the human tragedy & unfolding crisis in Afghanistan but will they speak up for their own community in Kashmir who were beaten to pulp today by security forces for doing their job’’?Omar Abdullah while re-tweeting the pictures of photojournalists while being thrashed by forces termed it as an unfortunate act and appealed to the administration to take action, compensate for the loss of those who suffered damage.Meanwhile, Kashmir press club issued a statement against the assault on media persons by security. The club demanded strict action against the concerned policemen involved in the incident and reiterated that the forces need to to respect the freedom of press under the constitution with action against those involved in it.Apart from former CM’s of the valley various political leaders and civil society members condemned the police action on media in Srinagar.
