UDHAMPUR, MARCH 13: Vice Chairperson District Development Council, Udhampur, Juhi Manhas Pathania, flagged off a group of 20 farmers from tehsil Majalta for a one-day exposure tour to Jammu. The tour was organised under the Sub Mission on Agriculture Extension (SAME-ATMA) and aimed to make the farmers aware of the latest techniques in cultivation of exotic vegetables, organic farming, mushroom cultivation and beekeeping.During the tour, the farmers will visit the Directorate of Agriculture Jammu and interact with agriculture scientists at SKUAST Jammu to gain insight about the latest developments in the field of agriculture.The Vice Chairperson interacted with the farmers during the flag-off ceremony and encouraged them to learn the latest techniques and methods of farming during the tour. She also urged the farmers to share and disseminate the knowledge gained during the tour among other farmers in their community to improve their farm yields and income.The objective of the exposure cum training visit is to promote sustainable and profitable agriculture practices among the farmers of Majalta Tehsil and equip them with the knowledge and skills required to improve their productivity and income.The Vice Chairperson emphasised that such exposure visits would prove fruitful for the development of the agriculture sector and urged the farmers to avail the benefits of this opportunity and get updated with the latest innovations in integrated farming systems comprising crop production, protective exotic vegetable cultivation, mushroom growing, etc.Present on the occasion were officials from the Department of Agriculture, including Kuldeep Singh SDAO Ramnagar, Jyoti Parkash SMS, Surinder Gupta SMS and Sanjeev Singh I/c AEO Majalta.
