World Fisheries day celebrated at Trout Fish Farm Mammer

GANDERBAL, NOVEMBER 21: World Fisheries Day was today celebrated with full zeal and zest at Trout Fish Farm Mammar in solidarity with the fishermen and fish farmers of the world.This day is celebrated worldwide to pay tribute to fishermen community who contribute to 25% of the total protein requirement of the human population.The celebration was presided over by SDM kangan, Javaid Ahmad Rather besides tehsildar kangan , professor’s from central university of Kashmir and Bemina college.The event was attended was by the officials of JandK State Fisheries Department , Students of central university and Bemina College.At the outset ADF Ganderbal, Salman Rouf Chalkoo welcomed all the guests.A practical demonstration on fish breeding was imparted to the students ,which was followed by a technical session.While appreciating the efforts of Fisheries department , SDM Kangan applauded the importance of the world Fisheries day and emphasized the need for sustainable fisheries in and around the world. The students of the central university Kashmir presented two cultural events of Kashmiri attire.SDM kangan and other officials took stock of the stalls/models prepared by the students of GDC Bemina and praised the efforts put in by all the stakeholders for management and conservation of Fisheries resources.
