After Ten Years Trial: Bandipora Court convicts Six Persons Under Forest Act.

    Bandipora, 23 Dec: Bandipora Court on Thursday Convicted Six Persons for Cutting down Kayroo Trees from Forest area of District Bandipora.According to Legal Correspondent of Current News Service, Police Station Bandipora received a written complaint in Aug 2011 from the officials of Forest Department that during patrolling duty at Kandi Compartment, they found Six Jungle Smuglers have cut down three poles in Forest and Some Dalyas were also recovered from their Possession.Accordingly after registration of Case Bearing FIR No. 155/2011 at Police Station Bandipora Challan was Presented before Judicial Magistrate Bandipora in Year 2011.While Passing 33 Pages Judgement Towfeel Ahmad Mir (KCS) (Judicial Magistrate Bandipora) said that on the basis of evidence recorded, arguments from Prosecution and Defense finally convicted all the accused persons for Cutting and theft of Green Trees from Forest U/s 379 RPC read with 6 Forest Act and 06 months of simple imprisonment was awarded to all the accused persons for the offence 379 RPC and 03 Months imprisonment for 6 Forest Act, a fine of 1000 each was also imposed upon all and in default of which they shall undergo simple imprisonment of 15 days.Meanwhile the accused persons were identified as Bilal ahmad dar, Hameed Lasoo, Ayoub darzi, Farooq ahmad Kawa, Imtiyaz Ahmad Kharoo and Javid Ahmad Darzi. All of them have been taken into custody and lodged in District Jail Kupwara.Assistant Public Prosecutor JMIC Court Bandipora Mr. Bilal Ahmad Khan pleaded the matter on behalf of UT of J&K while as Accused persons were represented by Adv Malik Mushtaq and Adv Reyaz Ahmad.(CNS)
