Srinagar,26-Mar: Provincial Secretary Apni Party and noted social activist Altaf Malik has urged the administration for disilting and widening of all irrigation canals in and across the areas of Rafiabad & Zaingare. He also demanded for operationalization of irrigation lift schemes and urged to make them functional ahead of the paddy season. He ensured the farmers that all their issues pertaining to seed sowing would be completely minimised this year. Showing strong resentment over the mismanagement by the concerned department, Malik said that the Irrigation Department has delayed the repairment work and they need to gear up the ground staff to make the irrigation canals functional & ensure that the lift schemes which are currently dysfunctional in various areas including Rafiabad and Zaingare should be restored at the earliest. Besides this Malik also called upon the PDD regarding the issue pertaining to the repair work of Transformers which is causing great distress among the local masses.(CNS)
