LEH: A delegation from Looms of Ladakh led by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Lobzang Lamo and founder director strategist, Abhilasha Bahuguna, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, at Raj Bhawan. The delegation briefed the LG about the skill development programmes provided to women self-help groups from Ladakh under various schemes, its focus on ‘Vocal for Local’ and the effort to promote local handloom products in national and international markets, the elections and audit conducted by Looms of Ladakh, the funding provided to the women’s cooperative society by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), etc. The LG was also apprised of the plan to encourage more women members to join the society to enable them to become self-sufficient and independent, the garment construction process initiated by the society and construction of its new office building at Kuzey in Choglamsar to train women from lower socio-economic class. The delegation requested the LG for guidance, support and intervention in providing training to women SHGs, shed for workers, machines/equipment and repairing of equipment.
