Srinagar March,24 :Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front(J&K PDF) and former minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Thursday has demanded 300 units free power toconsumers in Jammu & Kashmir on the pattern of several other states and UT Governments of the country including Punjab and Delhi Speaking to various deputations during his two days visit to Khansahib constituency in central Kashmir Budgam , Hakeem Yaseen demanded 300 units of electricity free to the consumers of Jammu and Kashmir mart cities of Jammu and Kashmir as has been announced by state governments of Punjab, Delhi and many UT Governments in the country . He said due to back to back lockdowns on account of Co vid – 19 and abnormal situation after 5th August 2015 political developments in JK , financial condition of the common People has gone bad to worst and they are not able to pay electricity and water biils regularly . ” Keeping in view the poor financial condition of people , the consumers need financial assistance from the government ,” Hakeem Yaseen said adding that free electricity and exemption of water tax would provide them big relief .He said people of Jammu & Kashmir deserve more free power than the consumers of other states and union territories in view it’s disadvantageous geographical position .He said Jkcontributes a lot in strengthening the Northern Power Grid from its various power projects . PDF leader has also suggested introduction of post paid system of billing after launching of proposed smart meters in various areas of the Union Territory.adding that Post paid system for bill payment would be viable for the consumers.Hakeem Yaseen assured the people that thier demand for augmenting drinking water facilities and health care system would be persued at the highest level of the government . ‘ I urge LG Manoj Sinha to issue orders for starting construction of mini hydro power projects on Nalla Sulhnag and Nalla Shaliganga as early as possible adding that these two proposed power projects were pivotal for socio – economic transformation of district Budgam especially entire Khansahib constituency.(CNS)
