Disengaged ICDS helpers demand revocation of order, stage protest

    Srinagar, 15-Mar: Scores of helpers to supervisors of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) department who had earlier been expelled by the government On Tuesday staged a protest demonstration here at Press Enclave Srinagar, demanding revocation of the order.The helpers to supervisors appeared at the Press Enclave Srinagar and chanted slogans against the order like “We Want Justice,” and “Revoke the Order.” The protestors claimed that they had been working in the department for the last two decades. “We were performing every duty from election duty to vaccination,” they said, adding “that for the last three years we were without salaries”The protestors said that they have been protesting for the past three years but that the authorities have remained unmoved. “We have moved to the court that has stayed the order. But the department’s indifference concerns us”, a protestor said, adding that they are unable to work in the government sector since they are over the age limit.The disengaged helpers said that if the order was not revoked within a short span of time they would hit the roads to protest. “The authorities will be responsible for the same,” they said.Pertinently, 918 helpers to ICDS supervisors were disengaged by the authorities saying “these helpers were illegally appointed.” (CNS)
