Pulwama, 09- Dec : Continuing its efforts to curb the menace of drugs from the society,Police arrested four alleged drug peddlers in Pulwama and recovered “huge quantity of contraband substance from their possession.”Giving details a police spokesman said, acting on specific information regarding drug peddling in the area, yesterday a Police Party on patrolling across Tenghar area of Pulwama, noticed four persons who were roaming in suspicious manner.The suspected persons tried to flee from the spot after seeing police party, but with strenuous efforts and with utmost professionalism Police party nailed down the suspected persons and during search 49 codeine bottles were recovered from their possession.The accused identified as Junaid Ahmad Ganaie resident of Chatapora, . Umer Feroz Bhat resident of Pulwama near wani Masjid, Aijaz Ahmad thoker resident of Old Bus stand Pulwama and Qaisar Nazir Mir resident of Mughalpora Pulwama were arrested.Accordingly, Case FIR No. 331/2021 U/S 8/21 of NDPS Act stands registered in PS Pulwama and investigation is taken up.In another incident, on a specific information, a Police Party from Police Station Litter acting swiftly and conducted raid at specific location at village Rakh Litter. During search 20kg of Bang Patri was recovered from the residential house of Rayees Ahmad thoker resident of Rakh Litter.The accused person has not been arrested yet. However, efforts are being made to nab the culprit. To this effect case FIR No 325/2021, U/S 8/20 of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Litter and investigation has set into motion.Meanwhile, Pulwama Police have appealed the public to come forward and extended cooperation in war against drugs.(CNS)
