Talking about the Covid-19 precautions during the DDC elections while at some booths people were seen following proper covid guidelines but there were polling booths where no person was seen following covid guidelines and one such polling booth was in the Bishnah area of Jammu where very few voters were seen wearing a mask. Also, the voters weren’t seen undergoing Thermal scanning. According to the Election Official, “the health department has not provided us with enough masks to give to the voters. We are only given 12-15 masks which will be used by the election staff. Also for thermal scanning, we haven’t received any thermal scanner. We have informed the health department but till now we haven’t received”. “All these preparations have to be done a day before but the health department has failed. If any corona patient enters the booth and anyone present here gets positive then who will be responsible”, he added. While talking to locals many of them complained that their names are missing from the voter’s list, the others said that our only demand from the candidate who gets elected is that he should make proper drainage systems and proper roads.
