Srinagar, 21-Feb:International Mother language day is observed worldwide on 21st February every year to promote awearness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism . This year we are celebrating the day as a part of” Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav .” In this connection today on 21st February, 2022 an event was organised in BHSS Uri and chaired by the Principal Mr Mushtaq Sopori.The function was attended by the teaching and non teaching staff of the institution, teachers of zone Uri, the members of civil society and many students of BHSS Uri.The main speakers who spoke on the occasion included Mr Atta u llah Handoo (ex Principal) Mr Atta U llah Mumtaz ( noted poet and writter), Mr Sheikh Shafique ( Sr. Lecturer), Mr Farooq Mir ( Sr. Lecturer), Mr Aabid Ahmad ( Vocational teacher). At the event the speakers highlighted the importance of mother language , especially in the context of New Education Policy 2020 and the future aspect of the Policy.The Speakers on the occasion said that the mother language identifies a person and his culture and there was a need to preserve culture and mother language.The Principal on the occassion stressed on preservation of our diverse culture through mother language. He said that the teachers and parents can play a major role in keeping the mother tongue alive and preserving it generations after generations.(CNS)
