Srinagar,28-Apr: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that the Government’s claim that everything is normal in Kashmir is contrary to what is happening on the ground as Shab-e-Qadr and Jumat-ul-Vida prayers are barred at historic Jamia Masjid.Flanked by NC General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, NC provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani and NC leader Tanvir Sadiq, Omar while addressing media at NC headquarters Nawa-e-Subh complex said that if situation in valley is normal than why Jumat-ul-Vida and Shab-e-Qadr prayers have been disallowed at the historic Jamia Masjid,”On tourism arrivals in Kashmir, Omar said, “As if the tourists all over India were waiting for the articles to be removed. Tourists have been coming to Kashmir in far greater numbers before Aug 5,adding that the government, if not by its words but by its action, is proving that the situation is too far from normal.”While blaming the administration for failing to provide relief to the residents of the Valley, Omar said, all the previous regimes would always ensure that there are no power cuts during Sehri and Iftaar time, but the present regime has failed to do so.The residents of Kashmir are facing electricity outages for the past several days. The authorities have blamed the early onset of summer and sub-optimal hydro power generation for the long electricity disruption.”Curtailment of electricity at Sehri & Iftar hours is being deliberately done to hassle us. Generation from our own power projects is at its peak during April but yet we have no power at Sehri and Iftaar time. We don’t know where from the power has to be arranged by government, but these power cuts should stop forthwith in view of the holy month of Ramadhan.(CNS)
