Police clarifies on Parimpora Gambling incident Only Rs 5.76 Lac Stake Money seized Instead of Rs 1.5 Cr

    Srinagar, 10-Sept: Continuing its efforts to eradicate menace of anti-social activities from the society. Police on Thursday evening arrested 16 gamblers during a raid in Parimpora area of Srinagar.A police official told that raid was carried based on specific information and besides stake money, gambling cards were also recovered.It was reported by various media hubs that stake money worth 1.5 cr has been seized from the spot. However police officials today clarified that only 5.76lac has been recovered.While speaking to official from Parimpora Police station today clarified that only 5.76 lac stake money has been seized from the spot.Those arrested include Ashiq Hussain Of Saida Kadal Srinagar, Ali Mohammad Bhat of Gund-Hassi Bhat,Mohammad Younis Zargar of Hawal Srinagar, Mudasir Ahmad sheikh of Chanapora, Sajad Ahmad Wani of Shopian, Tanveer Ahmed Wani of Shopian, Bashir Ahmad Sheikh of Dalgate, , Mohammad Ramzan of Pulwama, Altaf Ahmad Bhat of Saida Kadal, Firdous Ahmad Sofi of Saida Kadal, Farooq Ahmad Shah of Bohri Kadal, Parvaiz Ahmad Ganai of Ibrahim Colony Bemina, Ghulam Ahmad of Fatai Kadal, Asif Ahmad of Nowgam, Fayaz Ahmad Rather Ahrambagh and Mohammad Shoib Bhat of Bemina Srinagar.Earlier, it was inadvertently reported by CNS that Rs 1.5cr were recovered as stake money from the gamblers.Meanwhile, police have registered a case under FIR number 274/2021 U/S 13 Gambling Act in this regard and further investigations have been taken up.
