Principal Secretary YSS Inaugurates Inter Zone District Level Sports Competitions 140 teams/ 1700 Boys & Girls are participating

    Srinagar, 18- Sep: Principal Secretary to Government Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Departement, J&K, Alok Kumar inaugurated Inter Zone District Level Competition for all the 20 districts of J&K at Amar Singh College sports stadia here.He was accompanied by Director YSS Gazanfar Ali, JD (Kashmir)YSS Bashir Ahmed DYSSO Srinagar Balber Singh and other senior officers of the Department.140 teams comprising of about 1700 boys and girls from different Zones of Srinagar district are taking part in competitions of more than a dozen disciplines of games under this tournament.In a statement to CNS, more than 200 officials have been deputed for the successful conduct of the tournament.On the occasion, Principal Secretary YSS Alok Kumar while highlighting the role of the Youth Services & Sports Department said that the YSS is on the forefront to help and support every player to excel in his/her game. He also congratulated the ones who won the first phase of the Sports competitions (Inter School Zonal Level).Kumar said that he is happy to inaugurate the Inter Zone District Level Sports Competitions and appreciated both boys and girls for taking part in the activities.“I am observing the sports activities going on in every district of the UT and am happy that huge participation is taking place. He further stated that to channelise the sports talent of JK youth, the Department has launched a unique initiative of engaging students and non-students in games and sports.While sharing the details about YSS Cup 2021 he further said that, it’s an initiative of taking sports to the Panchayat level,” said Alok Kumar, adding, “For the benefit of youth, infrastructure of national and international standards is being put in place in J&K to ensure that every player gets equal opportunity.”Kumar also said that sports equipment of international standard has been procured and the need of the hour is that every player makes use of these facilities to excel at higher levels.Regarding the conduct of such competitions, Kumar said “The purpose is to identify the players at every Panchayat level and then get them engaged in sports activities.
