Private schools ‘force’ parents to pay transport fee

    Budgam, 10-Nov; In a brazen violation of government norm, some private schools in Kashmir Valley are ‘compelling’ the parents to pay the transport charges.Score of parents from Delhi Public School Sheikhpora Budgam(DPS) today alleged that privately-run school has been demanding transport charges from them for the months of lock-down, while terming it ‘unjust’.The parents while talking to said that they cannot afford to pay the transport charges, as is being demanded by the school administration.They said that if the administration has directed the schools not to charge transport fees from the parents for the period of lock-down, how they can pressurize them to pay the same.The parents, while demanding implementation of the Government order with regard to the waiving off of the transport charges said that the administration should be keeping a check whether its order is being followed or not.“We are ready to pay the tuition fee, rather, we have already paid that, but demanding transport charges from us is something which should not happen, even when the Government has issued clear-cut instructions in this regard,” the parents said.Meanwhile, Chief Education officer, Budgam while speaking to said that No School Can Demand or Claim Transport Charges from Students. Parents can register their complaints at DSEK headquarters. “Whosoever comes with a complaint here, we take cognizance and act accordingly,” he added.(CNS
