Protest by physically challenged near outside Civil secretariat

    Srinagar,10-Feb; In support of their demands, including implementation Disability Act in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir, a protest was held by physically challenged persons in front of the Civil Secretariat Srinagar on Thursday Large number of physically challenged people had arrived from different parts of the valley, including Srinagar, this morning under the banner of J&K Handicapped Association (JKHA).In a statement issued to Abdul Rashid Bhat, president JKHA said that the J&K and central government had failed in all respects to address the issues of the physically challenged. We have always been given nothing but red pop and assurances. The loud claims of the govt have always been open and nothing has been done on the ground.According to the statement, a memorandum was submitted to the state government regarding the sufferings and problems of the physically challenged persons of J&K and at the same time People with disabilities in J&K have always been mistreated by all the governments whether it is the central government or the state govt & the state government has always assured us of this that we will provide all the benefits to people with disabilities that the law and the constitution have given them but after the meeting nothing is done for people with disabilities and nothing is visible on the ground. President further urged the Central and State Governments to meet their demands as they are a facing many problems due to financial crisis . “we are being forced to stumble from door to door. If our demands are not met today after this protest, we will be forced to go on an indefinite hunger strike in all these circumstances. The responsibility will fall on the present administration.Fourth-class posts were fired by the government in 2021, leaving 21 percent of the physically challenged at 21 percent.It was supposed to be divided into categories but unfortunately due to many categories it has been ignored and some categories have been included in it. Should be taken and our final list should be released”,it reads.(CNS)
